Vocal Ensembles

The USA Concert Choir is the largest choral ensemble on the USA campus, performing a wide range of repertoire from the 16th through the 21st centuries. The 'C Choir' has generally performed one or two campus concerts per semester. This choir is open to all USA students and is made up of music majors and non-music majors from every department. Recent performances of the Concert Choir have included Fauré's Requiem, Haydn's Creation, Schubert's Mass in G, Vivaldi's Gloria, Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, and the Mozart Requiem. Past notable performances have also included Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Mobile Opera and Mobile Ballet; and Verdi’s Requiem with the Mobile Symphony.  The USA Concert Choir is directed by Dr. Laura Moore.

The University Chorale is a highly select ensemble of voices that perform challenging choral literature of diverse styles and periods. The Chorale is the most visible representative of the choral area, and its members are students of the highest musical caliber. In addition to appearances on campus, the University Chorale also performs for schools and civic organizations in the greater Mobile area and Gulf Coast region, as well as a performance at the Alabama Music Educators Association in-service workshop & conference.  The University Chorale is directed by Dr. Laura Moore.

The USA Opera Theatre trains young performers in the fundamentals of stagecraft, performance, and production. Through experience performing the standard works of opera, operetta, and American musical theater, students present each semester's work in performance on campus and in outreach venues in the Mobile community. Enrollment is open to all USA students by audition. The USA Opera Theatre is directed by Dr. Thomas Rowell.
