Arts in Education

The University of South Alabama Department of Music provides many services to Mobile, Clarke and Baldwin counties, including professional development for teachers.  The Department is pleased to offer Arts in Education, a professional development program designed to train elementary and middle school classroom teachers how to integrate the arts into the classroom. Participants discover how to enhance English, math, science, social studies and other core courses with music, theatre, visual arts, and dance. Funded by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE), No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation, Alabama State Council on the Arts (ASCA), and the University of South Alabama. Participants receive up to 48 teacher inservice hours as well as over $200 in classroom materials.  Space is limited to 75 participants.
Special thanks to our 2011-2012 partners: The Mobile Museum of Art, The Museum of Mobile, and Old Shell Magnet!
