I'm looking for the papers on the 28 Fundamental Beliefs. Those of you who work better under pressure (must be all of us), you have 11 more days to get it in!! (December 12 according to my notes.)
Attached again are the requirements for the Adventist Church Heritage and Christian Storytelling honors.

Just checking in to see if anyone has questions and to find out how you are coming along on your assignments?
Sunday, November 21 will be the first of four 2-hour seminars to attend. It will be lead by Pastor Strunk and will start at 8:00 am sharp because you have to be in Pathfinders at 10:00 am (be that positive "on-time" example to the younger children). Make sure you're there so you can get credit for the seminar! No coming in at 9:30 and expecting credit! ;) In fact, attendance will be taken. If you can't get there by 8:00 or 8:15 . . .
Remember, these are not just "requirements" to be marked off on your card, but skills, habits, and information that you should incorporate into your life so that you will be better leaders and a Christlike example to those around you. Don't go away from Master Guide class or Pathfinders without deciding to make a positive change in your life based on the principles you learned in that class period. Encourage the young people in your charge to do the same!

I hope you've started on reading/reviewing the books listed under the posting "Books to Read." I found a hidden book/seminar that must be added to the list. Find a book on child development for the age group that you are working with and read it. If you have taken a child development class in school for a degree or attended another child development class in the last 2 years I will accept that. |

Okay . . . like promised, here are a few more things to work on. Sprinkle these assignments in between the other long term requirements (like the reading!). These smaller assignments are a bit easier to tackle and get checked off. Attached you will find the requirements for the 3 mandatory awards to be earned:
1. Adventist Church Heritage 2. Christian Storytelling (Several story categories to cover. Work with the scheduler for Children's story at church.) 3. Camping Skills 1 (Camporee is coming up, right? Get this award out of the way. Wish I could take advantage of the camporee - gotta figure out how to do this one on my own! =P)
Also, you must earn 2 additional awards that you have not previously earned.
I thought my Bachelor's degree was a lot of work! I would really appreciate it if we could keep in touch via e-mail so I know where you're at, your progress, what you might need help with or have questions about. My e-mail is eeyore4mee2@gmail.com and my phone number is (415) 754-5182.
Blessings, Lori |

Hello All!
Hope your day was successful! I heard the Children's Sabbath went well. How are things coming along with your devotions, Bible reading plan, and the reading of any EGW books? Lots of reading! Set goals for yourself like one book/month, or whatever works. Things have been busy with me (two new jobs and all) so, this evening I will post requirements for the Christian Storytelling, Church Heritage, and Camping Skills 1 awards. Again, you may have done some of the requirements - have Arthur or Pastor Strunk check them off! More later . . . |

More stuff you can do on your own and when we are not officially meeting! ALWAYS have a book in your hand! Either the Bible and Desire of Ages or one of the following:
*Steps to Christ - Ellen White *The Pathfinder Story - John Hancock *ONE of these three: Anticipating the Advent - George Knight
Tell it to the World - Mervyn Maxwell
Light Bearers to the Remnant (a denominational history college textbook available at ABC or Adventsource)
*Education - Ellen White *ONE of these two: Child Guidance - Ellen White
Messages to Young People - Ellen White
*Leadership is an Art - Max dePreez
*Required
If you have read them recently, it counts! If it's been over a year or so, brush up on it. Where there is an option of what to read, for your own education, pick one you haven't read before. |

Sometimes we want to study the Bible, but may not know where to start. Here you will find the Encounter Series 1: Christ the Way Bible reading plan. This will be good to use as your starting point for study and personal daily devotions. One of the assignments is to keep a log of what you read and its significance to you and your life. Use this if you like, or other devotional material. I started reading the Desire of Ages and can hardly put it down! Now I need to go back and get caught up with the Bible verses that go with it! Start with prayer that the Holy Spirit will clear your mind, direct you, and help you contemplate what you read. Even if you come up with questions, that means you're thinking! May God bless you as you get into His word. |

Thank you (I think!), Arthur, for asking me to be the "facilitator" for the Master Guide program. It will be an interesting experience for all of us. I just ask for patience and prayers from everyone.
As the "facilitator" I would like to keep record/files of the assignments you complete (Hello, that is the teacher part of me coming out!). So . . . if it is a written assignment I would like you to e-mail me a copy of it. If it is a spoken assignment, you can either 1) e-mail me a hard copy of what you presented or 2) post a video clip of your presentation. I will be requesting Pastor Strunk to sign off certain requirements and Arthur other requirements.
ON-GOING: Some requirements are long-term such as the required reading, devotionals, and the fitness program. It would be wise to look over the attached MG requirements and jot these down so you can get started with them ASAP. Again, when you're done, let me know and I'll have someone sign them off.
SEMINARS: There are four 2-hour seminars that must be attended. A couple of them I think we will try via Skype (we'll see, right?!) and the others I will ask someone to present there (I will attend via Skype). Stay tuned for announced dates and times.
Again, thank you. This should be interesting and fun. Please pray that we all will have wisdom and patience and a great learning opportunity! |
