Hey there, all of you in GUIDE, it's me! :D Ok, so since I wasn't your AY instructor last year, you guys are going to have to catch me up to speed. As I am looking at Renee's last posts, I can see some assignments that are posted, but I'm not sure if they were completed. So can you please let me know if you have completed them or not? Honesty is the best policy, right? Tanks.
Also, the Guide Record Card is attached. Take a look-see to know what you still need to complete. During our next meeting for AY classes, I'll make sure to have something prepared and assigned for you guys. I'm looking forward to teaching this class, you guys are older, more responsible, and are almost done with AY classes in general, so this should be a breeze, right?
Alrighty, continue to check the site for new posts and assignments. In the mean time, if you want to get ahead and do some of the tasks on the card, DO IT!! I highly encourage it. Maybe by later today or this week I'll assign a couple here and there, but as of right now, just look through the card, see what you've done and haven't done, and we'll pick up from there. GOT IT??
Verse of the day:
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
where's it found??
Tanks all, *melissa |

…so let’s try this again….(I tried typing this directly to the page and it got erased after an hour of typing…so sad). This time I am writing it on a word document first =) then pasting it...
…I hope you guys have started your assignments =\ no one has asked me about the scripture verses that you have to memorize, i guess i was just to remember. I need to be reminded and please do not hesitate to ask questions or clarifications on your assignments.
Here goes, as a reminder, these are the assignments due on Oct. 16, 2010:
1. Memorize the AY Aim, Motto, and Pledge
2. Illustrate the meaning of the AY Motto (refer to your handout for ways to complete this assignment. I gave you a handout at our first AY progressive class meeting)
3. Read week 27 and 28 from the Weekly Bible Reading Guide (see attachment refer to the guide section). Submit one typewritten paper for each week (12 pt font, times new roman, 1” margins). Please answer the following questions (minimum one paragraph per question) - Summarize the main topic of the verses (hint: it’s categorized…don’t think too hard) - What have you learned? - How can you apply it to your daily life? Note: please reference/cite at least one verse within each paper. For example: In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, I have been reminded that I need to continuously pray and give thanks. I am aware that this is something that I do not continually do and need to do more of. (do not copy this or rephrase it….this serves as an example; make it your own application)
4. Memorize a Bible text from each of the seven categories (see “scripture memorize.doc” attachment)
5. Trace the origin of 3 Bible versions that are presently available in your native language, OR list 5 kinds of laws God gave to Israel and compare their practical application to yourself in today’s society. Submit a paper with the same guidelines as above (i.e. 12pt font, 1" margins). The paper needs to be thorough and informative. It should be at least one page, but not more that two pages. Please reference/cite within your paper if you use outside sources such as a dictionary, books, and so forth). If you do not know how to do references or citations, ask me.
Pick ONE of the following: (You will need to inform me which one you choose to do by October 1, 2010 by replying to this post or message me on FB). You can work in groups for this part of the assignment which I highly suggest. Which ever you have chosen will be presented on October 16, 2010.
6. Read and outline three stories of Adventist pioneers. Tell these stories during a Pathfinder Club meeting, children story (ask Honors intructor on meeting the requirement for “Christian Storytelling”), or AY worship time/small group meetings.
OR
7. Read Chapters 32-35 from the book The Great Controversy.

UPDATE:
Vespers: George
SS: Patricia
Divine: Andrey
You have less than one week! Unfortunately, I was not able to see any of you this past Sabbath to run through your studies, so Friday afternoon, I want the three of you to do a quick run through with me. In the mean time, prepare, practice, and pray!! Just a reminder, topics are Discipleship and Evangelism depending on what service you're speaking at. Time limit 15-30 min. Please include scriptures for nothing is valid unless supported by scripture!
Again, please let me know if you need any help with this!! None of you have contacted me, so I am assuming everything is running smoothly and you have no further questions. I am working these next few nights, so I will get back to you as soon as I can (and am awake.)
Thanks again! I can't wait to hear what you have to share with us.

Ok , so since I haven't been able to meet with any of you lately, I'm just going to randomly assign a program for you to speak during. So, by using Random.org, I was able to truly, randomly choose assignments for the three of you. Here were the results:
Vespers: George
Sabbath School: Jason
Divine Service: Andrey
All programs are of equal importance, so don't think that one is more important or special than the other! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give me a holler.
Happy preparing! :)

Hey Guides,
Camping is slowly approaching... time to prepare!!
Here are just some guidelines to help you guys prepare your study/sermon for the weekend.
Just to give you an idea, we'll have you three choose which service to do your sermon. I'm not sure how you want to decide, but we'll do it somehow. Topics will be Discipleship/Evangelism.
Friday night vespers: Discipleship
Sabbath school: the lesson for that week entitled "Social Support" (how fitting!)
Please integrate Discipleship into the lesson..very doable!
Divine service: Evangelism
Please see attachment for outline guidelines and instructions on how to prepare/organize your study.
If you have any questions, please holler at me. Don't hesitate! I'm here to help.
P.s. I want to hear all your studies before camping, so please have them ready by

So, I know you're not my class, but I'm just going to give you a heads up on what's to come. We had a staff meeting today and we discussed what NEW assignment we have for you guys :) Because you are in the Guide class, we expect you to take higher responsibilities and leadership positions in our Pathfinder club. Lately we haven't been asking you to do much as far as all this goes, but now is the start. It is the end of the Pathfinder year and we need you guys to show us that you have made the transition from being a pathfinder teen to a pathfinder LEADER.
During our upcoming camping (June 25-27, 2010), we are assigning each of you--George, Jason, and Andrey--to present a sermon for our three main services: vespers, sabbath school, and divine service. The topic for this camping is Discipleship/Evangelism. More information will be given to you regarding specifics and what not, but I just wanted you to know so you can be prepared.. to prepare!
Thanks all, Melissa |

...So have you guys caught up with your assignments???
I know that you guys have done the list of 10 guidelines/qualities you would want in a good life companion. The following are additional requirements to complete this section:
1. Type a page on weighing the value of a christian home versus a non-Christian home. Please provide a reference or cite from one of Ellen G. White's book.
2. Give a written (at least one page) or oral report (no less than 5 minutes) on respect for God's law. Also, list 20 guidelines for moral behavior, and explain each guideline. So this assignment is two-fold. -For the part that refers to "respect for God's law" here are the requirements: If you choose to do the written portion, do not handwrite. You will need to do a citation within the paper. Please make an effort to do a well written page report and well thought out. For the oral report, please prepare an outline of what you will be presenting. Also, within the report do a citation. In other words, let the audience know where you obtained the information you are presenting. -20 guidelines: I am looking for an example for you guys, but try to research it on your own too.
As usual, if you have any questions, you can reply to this post or email me.

Hi my beloved Guides =)
please catch up with all the past assignments. Ask each other on what I have assigned and please do them.
Here is the assignment that corresponds to the Desire of Ages reading. Also, I am providing some links. I hope it helps.
