We're changing how we share information with our membership a little bit. In the past, we've sent weekly email messages to parents and community members using a large distribution list. Now, with an online discussion group, members can sign up to receive messages and will have a single place to go for news and information about upcoming events. Joining our online group is as EASY as 1-2-3! Step 1: Go to the Main ScreenJust click here Step 2: Join the GroupLook for a link to "Join this group" on the right side of the screen and click on it. If you already have a Google account, you can simply enter your email address and password and you should be ready to join. If your account is not set up, then we recommend that you create an account. Google will prompt you again for a password. Use the same one you started with and also enter the letters that match the funny picture (this is so they know you're a real person, not a machine). By the way, Google accounts are very safe and do not generate any new email unless you sign up for something, like our Google Group. You can always opt-out of email from any group or completely remove yourself from any list. You are in complete control. Step 3: Set up your email preferencesThe last step in setting up your account is to select how you would like to receive email from the group. No Email: Means you will visit the site when you want to see what's going on. (This is not recommended.) Abridged Email: A summary of email each day (one email per day). Digest Email: All new messages (up to 25) in a single email. Since we don't expect 25 messages a day, this would not be more than once per day. If there were some hot topic that created lots of discussion, you could get more than one per day. (This is the recommended setting today.) Email: Each message comes to you when it's posted to the group. (Only recommended for UPG leadership or individuals with a burning need for up-to-the-minute information.) They'll also ask for your nickname. You can use your real name or any name you prefer. For more advanced or adventuresome folks, there are also ways of getting alerts for messages containing certain keywords. An additional link at the bottom of the email settings page gets you to those settings and you can always add this feature later. THAT'S IT! We look forward to seeing you online soon! |
