There is a new online technology called the Semantic Web. It's focused on collecting web pages or other items and then using analysis software to collect common attributes about the pages in a way that allows you to glean new meaning or insights. There are a number of sites experimenting with the technology, but one that we like is called Twines. To get a sample of what we mean, we've created two "twines" on special topics at the following addresses: Achievement Gap: http://www.twine.com/twine/11w7z83gh-br/achievement-gap Middle Years: http://www.twine.com/twine/11w7zy15d-c5/middle-years We've also started a twine on "Accountability in Education" and expect to create twines on all of our upcoming meeting topics. And there are other twines that you will find under the topics of "education", "educational technology", "learning with Web 2.0", and we're sure you'll find many more of interest. Give it a try and let us know how you like it! |
