Introduction

  • What does it mean to be healthy?
  • Why does health seem to come and go as it pleases?
  • Do I have any control over my health?
  • Will I always have this disease?
  • Will I end up taking or will I always be taking medications?
  • Why does my health seem to be getting worse?
  • How come someone I know never seems to get sick?
  • My grandparent or parent had this, will I get it too?
  • I was told I would have this for the rest of my life. Is that true?
  • I have only a little time left to live. Is there anything I can do?
  • My child is sick all the time. How come?

Conversations like these are more commonplace in today's world. Everywhere you look you are bombarded with messages that say "it's only a matter of time before something in your body breaks." It is like we are ticking timebombs. Only we don't know how much time we have left!

Put another way...being born is like receiving a car. What kind did you get? Some would complain they were handed a "used" one. It seems like both grandparents and parents took it out for a spin over the last 80+ years and are now handing it down with all the wears and tears. Still others would say they were given a "lemon". Nothing has worked right...ever.

    It wasn't until I was 27 years old that I realized I had a problem...I had a "lemon".
