(H&M) will be hosting an office visit on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 2:30 to 5:00 pm.  Going to an office visit is a great way for you to learn more about a CPA firm and the employment opportunities that it offers.  H&M is a regional Certified Public Accounting firm that hires primarily for Phoenix and Tucson. Becker CPA Information Session

We just wanted to remind all of you who are interested in learning more about the different aspects of the CPA exam and the review course plan you could take to tackle the exam to attend the Becker CPA info session this Tuesday, March 6th at 5:15 in McClelland 208. Food and snacks will be provided. So come hungry and ready with any questions you may have regarding the CPA exam! 

Just a note, one of the outstanding member requirement is to have a professional event credit, and attending this will satisfy it. Also if you plan to attend, please RSVP to Lorise Reed before Tuesday by sending an email to lreed@becker.com.

Grow with Grant Thornton- Phoenix Office Program June 6-7

You’re in your junior year of college. You’re interested in learning more about what a profession in public accounting is really like. You have demonstrated leadership and communication skills. If this describes you, you’re the perfect candidate for Grow with Grant ThorntonGrant Thornton’s Summer Leadership Program.

Grow with Grant Thornton is designed to build leadership skills and help you think about your own abilities and goals as you prepare for a successful transition from college to career. You’ll also get a flavor for our different lines of business and begin to understand what the Grant Thornton Experience may hold for you. The program will be 1-3 days at your preferred Grant Thornton office location, during your summer break.

 

Your Grow with Grant Thornton experience may include some of the following:

 

·    shadowing an Associate or Senior Associate

·    gaining exposure to the type of work you can expect as an intern or full-time associate

·    interacting with firm leaders

·    learning about the various career options in the field of public accounting

·    networking with your peers

·    honing your leadership skills

·    participating in community events with Grant Thornton partners and employees

 

Program Qualifications: 
Qualified candidates must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 and be seeking a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting. Some Finance, Information Systems and Computer Science majors may also be considered. Accounting degree candidates must have a final expected graduation date (CPA Eligible) within six months of May 2014.

Last year, students from colleges and universities around the country chose to participate in the xACT competition. Here's your chance to do the same at U of A! Team with your friends to learn more about high level accounting policy issues. Gain recognition for your teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills. Connect with professionals at PwC who can provide mentoring for your career pursuits, all while you have fun and compete for substantial awards!
 

To learn more about the xACT competition at U of A, please join us for our Campus Launch (see details below). This will be a great opportunity for you to hear more about this exciting opportunity, meet some of our past participants, and start thinking about the formation of your team.  

Who Can Compete?
 
Teams consisting of 5 members - two sophomores each enrolled in an accounting course, one junior with a major in accounting, one "other" team member at any level and with any major, one "other" team member at any level and enrolled in any accounting course.
 

What's In It For me?
 
There are personal and financial rewards.  Participants will have the opportunity to network with PwC professionals and U of A faculty while discussing  business issues.  The winning campus team will receive $1,000 and be considered for the National finals.  All finalists will travel to New York to meet with PwC experts from the National Professional Services Group.  The top five teams at the National level will each receive $10,000!
