How can you contribute?

Game Donations

Jervis Library welcomes donations of new or used games for addition to its Unplug & Play Game Collection.  Used games should be in good condition, have all of their parts and rules, and be appropriate for players as young as 8-12 years old and up.  Games in poor condition, missing parts, or not appropriate for at least ages 8-12 will not be added to the collection.

Volunteers

The library is hoping that Unplug & Play will become a program that will sustain itself through the efforts of participants who will volunteer to fill critical roles at each Unplug & Play meeting.  This approach is necessary due to stagnant or declining levels of local and state financial support, which fund the majority of the library's operating budget.  Cumulative funding over the past decade or more has not kept pace with inflation, resulting in a shrinking of the library staff.  For new programs like Unplug & Play to succeed, the library will need a variety of volunteers to help run meetings in place of library staff.

At each meeting, a Library Ambassador volunteer will be responsible for overseeing room setup and cleanup, setting up the refreshments cart and making popcorn, and making announcementsVolunteers who will act as Game of the Month Guides may also be needed.  The responsibilities of each of the volunteer jobs can be viewed on the Volunteer Responsibilities page.

Refreshments and Supplies

Finally, at each meeting, light refreshments are provided.  The library provides free popcorn, but donations of light snacks and soft drinks are needed from participants.  Donations of supplies such as cups, napkins and paper plates are also greatly appreciated.  Participants who wish to coordinate with others what snacks they will bring are invited to post about it on the JPL Unplug and Play Google Group discussion page.

Monetary Donations

The library also welcomes monetary contributions designated to assist the Unplug & Play program.  Such funds will be used to buy supplies and refreshments for meetings, and to increase the game collection.  Information about donating to the library can be found on the library's website.

The following individuals and organizations have contributed to Unplug & Play by contributing games or funds to support the program.  We most heartily thank them for their assistance and support.
