GIS Volunteers needed at summer camp

posted ‎‎May 12, 2009 8:43 PM‎‎ by UNO Geography Clubs

Communities In Schools is working to put together its summer GIS camp for high school students.  They need someone, or many someones, with GIS expertise to assist with this camp.

It runs from June 1, - July 17, 2009.  (Perhaps you can participate for a week?)

The labs are at MLK Charter.

The camp meets from 9 – 12 Monday – Friday.

They have potential projects lined up, Americorps volunteers to help in the labs and just need that GIS leader that is comfortable with ArcView and can handle basic introduction to GIS and GPS projects.  Are you the right person to help lead Communities in Schools with this ambitious project?

If the lure of the challenge isn’t enough to get you on board, the Geography department can allow you to receive internship credit if you set up a class with one of the faculty members in the department.  Perhaps you can combine something that you love with college credit or work on thesis ideas using this summer camp??
