UNM Mountaineering Club

The best club on campus for those looking to get outside, whether you're an experienced adventurer or just starting your outdoor endeavors!

Our Mission

The University of New Mexico Mountaineering Club strives to enable students to explore the outdoors through a variety of activities including rock climbing, hiking, ice climbing, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and general messing about in the mountains. Our aim is to facilitate access to the mountains by

  • providing training from experienced club members

  • providing expensive equipment required for climbing, camping, etc.,

  • subsidizing travel costs, and

  • providing a forum for like minded people to meet.

Want to get involved?

    1. Join the mailing list!

    2. This is our main communication medium.

    3. Come to a meeting (DSH 126 every other Wednesday)

    4. Meeting attendance is highly encouraged (required if you wish to participate in official club trips). We will discuss important things such as upcoming trips and training at meetings.

    5. Get to know other climbers and mountain enthusiasts. Meetings help us build and maintain a strong community, so come and make new friends, plan an adventure, and have fun.

    6. Trip reports! Occasionally we will share trip reports from our members. If you have a trip you want to share contact the officers!

    7. Get trained.

    8. Go on trips.

    9. Organize your own trips!

    10. The club works best when we have active members planning their own trips.

When to do business

Us officers have lives too, so try to do most club business at the meetings. That includes

  • Paying dues,

  • Turning in receipts for reimbursement,

  • Also, this a good time to check in/out equipment.
