About us

It is a well established tradition that every February Middelburg’s undeniably most significant artistic event wakes up the town from its winter sleep.  This event happens to be the performance of a bunch of enthusiastic Roosevelt students lead by Dr. Dasha Krijanskaia who teaches Theatre and Drama. This year’s show will be the production of Universal Grammar, a play written by Sergey Avrutin, who (when he has free time from writing plays) teaches courses in Cognitive Science at  our beloved university.

About the play

French meets two ex-Russian New Zeelanders living in Holland on her way to Denmark while Switzerland is being bombed and Uzbekistan is playing badminton.

 We are absolutely not testing your linguistic knowledge. We are testing your endurance. For only two hours times, cultures, theories meet and greet each other politely, overlap and then continue on their way. In a grey frame progressively postmodern red roses are torn apart while shades of life-dimensions vivify and fade away. All deep structures of *** human principles and language are the same; somewhere they are universal. ** There are no black and white judgments; it is the grey area we are trying to come across.
