YOUNGO is the official youth constituency at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Focal Points: Focal points are representatives of YOUNGO in charge of communicating with the secretariat of the UNFCCC on behalf of youths at the negotiations. The 4th round of focal points were elected in December 2011. The election took place in an electronic and printed ballot format. The election took place under the procedure described in one of the attachments at the bottom of the page. New focal point will be elected in December 2012. discussion on whether we should submit the application and the drafting
process were informed by the previous discussions held on the same
issue the previous years. You can find more information on this earlier processes and discussions on the relevant page of the wiki. What is a constituency? Definition by the UNFCCC secretariat: Constituencies have a functional role in the climate change negotiation process as a management tool. The
constituency system contributes to enhance the participation of a myriad
of individual organizations by clustering them to allow more effective
communication with the secretariat, within each cluster, between
clusters and with the Parties. Too
many constituencies would undermine that function. There are nine major
stakeholder groups in the CSD process, based on Agenda 21
categorizations. The
YOUNGOs already work more or less as a constituency, submitting
consolidated positions and cooperating... Obtaining the formal status

issue at the Bonn 1 talks, which served as a basis for the discussion
