The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through the completion of high school. The Young Marines promote the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy drug-free lifestyle.
The Capt. Underwood Unit is located in Lexington, Kentucky and serves Fayette County and surrounding communities.
The Young Marines strengthens the lives of America's youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence, academic achievement, good sportsmanship, honoring our veterans, good citizenship, community service, and a healthy drug-free lifestyle.
Young Marines learn new skills, and earn rank. They earn ribbons in areas such as First-Aid, CPR, swimming, map reading, drug demand reduction training, conservation, academic achievement, community service and physical fitness.
