Shirin Afsous brings home an Outstanding Witness award (16/20 ranks) for her portrayal of Dr. Avery Smith. January 15, 2012: UMW Mock Trial wraps up "Hell Week" in preparation for the Baltimore Regional Tournament, February 11-12, 2012 in Baltimore, Maryland. UMW competes as a member of the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA). UMW finished 10th overall at the Baltimore Regional Tournament in February, 2010 with a record of 4-4. UMW finished 4th overall at the Baltimore Regional Tournament in February, 2011 with a record of 6-2. That win earned them a bid to the Washington, D.C. Opening Round Championship (ORCs) in March, 2011. At ORCs, UMW finished 10th with a record of 4-4. They have high hopes to reach the National Championship level during the 2011-2012 season.
