Who We Are and What We Do:Members of the International Health Interest Group and the Rotaract Club of UMass Medical School who will be providing medical services to the underserved sugar cane plantation workers (and their families) in the Domincan Republic. For more information about the organization we work with and the sorts of projects that they've undertaken in the past, please visit: www.laromana.org When:Two separate teams of approximately 20 people each will be going for week-long medical missions: Team A: March 15-22, 2009 Team B: March 28 - April 4, 2009 The Need:Our patients who work and live in the sugar cane fields surrounding the city of La Romana, live in a world where basic sanitation and healthcare is virtually non-existent. Our travel clinics, staffed by physicians and medical students, will provide essential medical aid and resources to the local community. Your donations will help us meet these needs. The Past and the Future:Teams from UMass had have successful trips for the past 4 years, providing medical services to hundreds of people.
