Colchester Inn (Feb - Jul 2009)

We 're very happy to let you know that since February our Society is involved in the art project " Colchester Inn" which is a project about hosting and welcoming in Colchester. Initiated by public works and commissioned by firstsite.  Public Works is working with us to find out how the Chinese host others and collaboratively is developing a new object that reflects our customs and ways of hosting and into the making of the "Colchester Inn" meeting space at firstsite.

Now the project should be finished on July and launch in public. For further information, please visit the website www.colchesterinn.net/timeline

We're delight to let you know also that the Firstsite gallery has generously donated to the CCCS in recognition for all our efforts in the hosting project.

If you have any concern, please contact Art project organiser Chao-Mi Ko,she will be  very happy to talk to you.

Summer 2009

We will join in “Diverse Culture Festival” in Colchester Lower Castle Park on 11 July 12 -5pm to celebrate our Chinese culture with the many other rich and diverse cultures in Colchester and surrounding districts. Children will have a chance to perform on the stage. So the Tai Chi group.  Apart from dancing, we have planned other activities related to Chinese culture for everyone to enjoy. This is a family fun day and an opportunity to experience other ethnic group cultures. It is a nice finish for our school term. All the proceeds from the activities will go towards to our Chinese school.

The committee are pleased to announce that Mr David Lam is appointed as the project manager for our society’s participation in the above mentioned “Diverse Culture Festival” event, and Ms Qiong Dong Gao as the manager for our food stalls (this activity is subject to us meeting all event requirements for food provision).  Please give them your generous supports towards the success of showcasing our culture in this event. We will have a number of activities to be held at the event. For details please browse: http://docs.google.com/View?id=dcfzc73b_5hfsjd3g9
