Congratulations Girls Lacrosse on your Chamionship Season June 3
The season is now completed. Girls Lacrosse lost to Strath Haven last night 16-14. The team won their league, finished 5th in District 1, and made it to the Final 4 of the state playoffs.

Four Track and Field Stars Headed to State Competition May 16
On
Friday and Saturday the track and field program competed at the
District I Championship meet against the best of 67 other schools in
the area. For the first time in more than 15 years, the team will have
four individuals represent the school. Jordan Close, finished 4th in
the 1600 and ran to a personal best time of 5:03.66. Matt Fischer
finished 8th with a personal best time of 4:21.22 in the 1600. Kelsey
McDonald chose the 800 meter run to show her ability off to the
district, finishing 3rd with a personal best of 2:17.76. And Alicia
Minella finished 6th in the 200 meter dash, and set another school
record in the semi-finals with a time of 25.33. Tim Garber, Allegra
Gray, and Shannon Pitt all medalled to help promote the Indians
program. The girls team finished 14th out of 68. The state-bound
athletes will compete this weekend at Shippensburg University.

Track and Field Competes at the Kennett Futures Meet May 12
This
meet is where the varsity athletes of tomorrow had a chance to excel.
The boys team was led by Nick Crusco, who was the only athlete to bring
home three medals. Nick won the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.84. The
boys SMR of Colin Roberts, Billy Popeo, Crusco, and Mike Ledyard
brought home gold medals with a time of 3:57.1. And the 4 x 400 meter
relay team of Popeo, Crusco, Ledyard, and Andrew Simonson placed 3rd to
medal and to complete the meet. On the girls side Nora Alalou was the
only medal
winner, with a first place finish in the discus with a throw of 80' 8" and a 2nd place throw in the shot put.

Girls Lacrosse Wins League Championship May 7
The
win gave Unionionville a perfect 11-0 league record (15-2 overall)
despite losing six starting defenders and two attack players from last

The
season ended last night with a Loss to Lower Merion in the district
playoff. Michael Furr and Michael Wu competed in the District doubles
tourney on Thursday winning the first 2 rounds before falling to the
number 3 seeded Council Rock North team. Congratulations to all the
members of the team on a great season!!
Boys Varsity Lacrosse Defeated WC Henderson 14 to 5 May 7
They
play Downingtown West at home on Saturday at 11 AM to finish the league
season. District 1 playoffs for the boys should also begin May 12.
Track and Field Competes in League Championship May 6
The
track and field program completed their Ches-Mont Championship season
on Wednesday at Coatesville against 13 other teams in the Championship
meet.
Alicia Minella was the only double winner for either
Indian squad, winning the 100 m High Hurdles and breaking the school
record on the way to winning the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.72.
Allegra Gray, placed third in the 100 m High Hurdles, and then broke a
26 year old school record with a time of 46.65 in winning the 300
meter hurdles. On the girls side, Lauren Mills and Kate Steller placed
4th and 5th respectively in the 3200 meter run and both qualified for
the District meet. And junior Keli Anderson placed 4th in the shot put
and qualified for Districts. On the boys side, junior Matt Fischer was
the only winner with a time 4:24.11, a new personal best, in wining the
1600 meter run. And junior Evan Ulatowski came in second in the 400 meter run with a time 49.89 and broke his own school record that he set a year ago.
All
individuals who qualified for Districts will compete next Friday and
Saturday at the District I Championships against more than 68 schools
throughout the Philadelphia region.
Special Recognition
Congratulations are due to several
athletes who have received special recognition. Devon Bond and Dinaker
Mallaya have been selected as the Seventh Congressional District
Scholar-Athletes for this academic year. This program recognizes one
male and one female student who best exemplify the selfless dedication
to academia and sports. In girls’ lacrosse, Amy Donovan and Lindsey
Smith have been named the Longstreth Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week
award by phillylacrosse.com.
Members of our winter sports’
teams have been named as All-League Choices. Lizzy Carney and Keli
Anderson were selected for girls’ basketball and Miles Holmes for boys’
basketball. Several athletes on our swim teams were also recognized:
Hillary Yarosh, Shane Austin, Sean McCarthy, Derrick Hayes and Nick
Halkowski. Our wrestling coaches decided not to do All-League
selections this year. Congratulations to all of our athletic teams and
their coaches.

They beat a very good Great Valley team in 3 sets to take the title.
Boys 4 X 800 Meter Take Gold May 1
On
Friday the track and field program competed at the Henderson
Invitational against more than 30 other schools. The boys 4 x 800 meter
relay team of Mitch Chisolm, Matt Fischer, Brock Allen and Tim Garber
was only gold medal winner of the night. The team ran to a time of 8:05.74,
which was a district qualfier and the 16th fastest time run in the
state this year. Kelsey McDonald also qualified for districts in the
800 and added herself to the best times in the state list. Kelsey's
time of 2:19.19 places her 21st in the state. Other district qualifiers
on Friday night were Jordan Close, Lauren Ellsworth, Allegra Gray, Lauren Mills,
Alicia Minella, and Evan Ulatowski.
Boys Tennis to Compete in Districts Apr 30
The
team completed their regular season with a win over Octorara on
Wednesday 7-0. Their final record is 14-2 overall and 10-2 for the
Chesmont League. They will move on to team district competition on
Monday May 4 at Lower Merion.
Girls Track Wins Championship Apr 29
The
girls track and field team captured their 3rd consecutive league
championship in a row by defeating Kennett 124 - 26 and Great Valley 95
- 55. This was also the 3rd consecutive undefeated season for the
Indians. The team was led by a number of dominant performances. Susie
Pancoast won
three events and threw the discus to a new personal
best of 106' 10". Jordan Close, Allegra Gray and Kelsey McDonald were
alll double winners. And sophomore Alicia Minella tied two school
records with personal bests -- 26.0 in the 200 meter dash and 60.2 in
the 400 meter run.
Boys Track Splits with Kennett and Great Valley Apr 29
The
boys team finsihed the season 5 - 1 by defeating Kennett 95 - 55 and
losing to league champion Great Valley 82 - 68. Matt Fischer was a
double winner. And junior Evan Ulatoski was a double winner and also
tied a 24 year old school record with a time of 10.9 in the 100 meter
dash. Both
teams compete Friday at the Henderson Invitational.
Boys Tennis Loses 3-4 to Great Valley Apr 28
This
brings their overall record to 13-2 and their league record to 9-2.
They finish off the regular season on Wednesday at Octorara. Winners
for Unionville on Tuesday included Ryan Collins/Matt Sokoloff, Josh
Knight/Bill Morris, and Andrew Bagwell/John Noss.

Boys Tennis Perfect Against Oxford and Octorara Apr 24
The
boys tennis team won against Oxford on Thursday April 23 and Octorara
on Friday April 24 by a score of 7-0 each match. That makes their
overall record 12-1. Also congratulations to Michael Furr for a great showing at singles
district competition on Friday at Healthplex. He won his first two
rounds before going out to the number 3 seed.
48 Teams Compete at the 6th annual Unionville Invitational Apr 25
There were a number of elite national performances and quite
a few district performances from the Indians. Alicia Minella medalled
in two events and qualfied in the 100 meter high hurdles with a
personal best time of 16.10. Shannon Pitt qualfied in the discus with a
throw of 102 feet and 9 inches. Kelsey McDonald improved her 1600 time
by more than 10 seconds and qualified for Districts with a time of
5:20.70. And Matt Fischer earned a silver medal and a district
appearance in the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:49.16.

Croneberger, our softball coach, was named by the Chester County
Chamber of Business and Industry as the organization's 2009 Female Business Leader of the Year. Jen was chosen because of her leadership skills and her
involvement in the community.

Say It Ain't So... Boys Tennis Suffers First Loss Apr 21
The
Tennis team lost to Great Valley 2-5. Winners for Unionville were
Michael Wu at 3rd singles and Zack Lawson and Mac McCann at 4th
doubles. Unionville will play Oxford at home on Thursday April 23.
Prior to the match the team will compete in their Rally for Pink to
raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.

Track and Field: On the Right Track 4/19
On Friday night at the Warrior Invitational, the the track and field program had another huge step in the right direction.
Senior
co-captain Tim Garber won the 800 meter run in a personal best time of
1:58.66. Tim's time was the first district qualifier on the boys side
this year and is good for the 10th fastest time in the state. Junior
Matt Fischer became the 2nd district qualifier one hour later with a
personal best time of 4:25.97 and the 12th fastest time in the state
this year.
The girls also had two relays qualify for districts -- the 4 x 400 meter and 4 x 800 meter relay teams.
The team hosts the 6th annual Unionville Invitational this weekend, which will feature 29 different schools from Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Boys Tennis Remains Undefeated Apr 18
The team is now 10-0 after beating Kennett 5-2 on Saturday. The next match is on Monday April 20 at Octorara.

Track and Field Remains Undefeated Apr 14
The track and field teams improved their records to 4 - 0 in the cold and rain at Rustin yesterday.
The
boys narrowly defeated Rustin 72.5 - 68.5 and got by Oxford 76 - 65.
Juniors Matt Fischer and Even Ulatowski led the Indians. Big
performances were turned in by Greg Blue in the shot put and Thomas
Nichols in the 300 meter hurdles which helped turn the meets in
Unionville's favor.
The girls ran by Oxford 89 - 51 and Rustin
85 - 56. The team was led by sophomores Jordan Close, Allegra Gray,
Kelsey McDonald, Alicia Minella, and Susie Pancoast. Junior co-captain
Allison Bernestein also turned in two wins in the jumps and senior
co-captain Shannon Pitt became the 4th
girl this season to qualify
for districts. Shannon's winning throw of 34-7 was her second mark over
the district standard this spring.
Both teams compete Friday at the Warrior Invitational at West Chester Henderson.

Track and Field Teams Were Busy Over Spring Break Apr 13
On
Saturday April 4th the girls team went to the Hurricane Classic and
were led by Susie Pancoast and Jordan Close. Susie qualfied for
Districts with a throw of 98 feet in the discus. Jordan also qualifed
with a time
of 5:20.19 in the 1600 meter run. The boys traveled to
the Council Rock Kiwanis Invitational and were led by Matt Fischer who
won the 3000 meter race in a time of 9:08.
On Wednesday the
teams went to the Rustin Invitational. The team was led by Allegra Gray
who qualified for Districts in the 300 meter hurdles and
missed
breaking a 26 year old school record by one tenth of a second. Dave
Annan won the high hurdles, Susie Pancoast won the shot put, and the
girls 4 x 800 meter relay team of Mary Popeo, Lauren Baker, Lauren
Mills, and Jordan Close won their race.
The teams compete again at Rustin in a tri-meet with Rustin and Oxford on Tuesday, April 14th.

Track & Field Rolls Over Sun Valley Apr 1
The
track and field teams improved their records to 2 - 0 with wins over
Sun Valley yesterday. The boys team won by a score of 145 - 4 and was
led by a number of double winners -- Dave Annan, Matt Fischer, Tim
Garber, Thomas Nichols, Evan Ulatowski, and Will Wilson.
The
girls team won by a score of 128 - 22. The team was led by Shannon
Pitt, who turned in district qualifying performances in both the shot
put
and discus. Alicia Minella also won two events and turned in a
district level performance in the 200 meter dash. Other double
winners were Allison Bernstein, Jordan Close, and Allegra Gray.

UHS Boys Tennis team won at Oxford today 7-0 to extend their undefeated
season to 7-0. At number one singles, Michael Furr held on to win a 3
set battle over a tough serve and volleyer from Oxford. Other winners
for Unionville include Brian Avison and Michael Wu at singles and Ryan
Collins, Matt Sokoloff, Josh Knight, Bill Morris, Andrew Bagwell, John
Noss, Zack Lawson, and Mac McCann at doubles. Our next match is at home

Track and Field Victorious Over Octorara Mar 27
The track and field program opened their season with victories over Octorara.The boys won 77 - 62. The team was led by double wins from seniors Will Wilson and Tim Garber. Distance standouts Adam Cantini and Matt Fischer were instrumental in helping the teams younger runners sweep the distance events.
The girls had a more convincing win by a score of 103 - 36. The team was led by three individual wins from sophomore Susie Pancoast, who swept the throws. Sophomores Lauren Ellsworth, Allegra Gray, Kelsey McDonald, Lauren Mills, and Alicia Minella all were double winners. Both teams compete at the teams only home meet next Wednesday at home against Sun Valley.

Unionville 7 Radnor 13 Julie Moran had 3 goals and Lindsey Smith had 2
in the loss to Radnor. Other goals were scored by Julie Truluck and
Lizzy Carney. Jackie Thaeder played solid defense for the Indians and
goalie Melissa Lloyd has 13 saves Girls Softball Defeats Great Valley Mar 26

beat Great Valley 9-4. Colleen Beckman got the win on 9 hits, 5
strikeouts and giving up NO WALKS! Unionville was down 3-2 in the 6th
inning when Sammy Carlino, with 2 outs and 2 strikes hit a 3 run
homerun. Ashley Wilmont followed with a home run, Then two more hits
followed by Colleen Beckman and Kelsi Dana bringing up Erin Garrity
with another 3 run homerun. Uville scored 7 runs with 2 outs to go up
9-3 in the 6th inning. They then held them to only one more run,
getting out of the 7th inning with a big win.
