The purpose of this page is to offer information for those athletes (and their parents) who are considering playing a sport at the collegiate level. Playing a sport while in college places great demands on an athletes time, especially at the Division I, IAA, or II levels, and is a decision that needs thorough discussions within the family as well as with your child's coaches and guidance counselor. By using the website listed here parents and athletes can gain information about different college levels available, eligibility requirements, and the recruiting process. The NCAA website offers quite a bit of information within their menu on Academics and Athletes. One of the key items in this menu you can find under Eligibility and Recruiting is a downloadable document entitled "Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete". The NCAA Eligibility Center has unveiled a new student-athlete website and registration process for college-bound student-athletes planning to enroll fall 2010 and later. The Eligibility Center feels that this new environment will aid administrators and coaches in easily accessing the vital information needed to assist student-athletes and parents with the registration and academic and amateurism certification process. It will also make the registration process easier for student-athletes, while providing them with a more interactive environment to begin their NCAA student-athlete experience. Visit the new registration web site at: www.eligibilitycenter.org To find out what UHS courses are approved by the NCAA as "core courses" you need to go to the NCAA Eligibility Center Page,
The jumpforward website is a web-based tool that allows athletes to create their own profile that includes their high school academic courses, test scores, athletic accomplishments and video highlights. Parents and athletes can also use this site to review potential college choices, contact and correspond with coaches, and find answers to questions they may have about college athletics. To fill out the academic profile you will need a copy of the athletes transcript, test scores and dates, and the "Core Courses" list mentioned in the previous paragraph. |
