Ugabhoga

Ugabhoga is an attractive free style singing of a verse (krithi) without rhythm (talam) introduced by Sri Purandara Dasa (15h century). This is considered to be the origin of all free style renderings such as alapana and Viruthams, which have become essential parts of carnatic concert format (padhathi).
