This year UFH will be hosting a seminar series to raise awareness of hunger and malnutrition issues. Each seminar will focus on a different aspects of these issues and how we can engage ourselves in fighting against hunger. We will have approximately two seminars per semester. Additionally, UFH will recommend experiential activities and/or provide community service opportunities. Current Seminar - "Hunger Organizations and Advocacy" Date: December 2 Join us for a seminar
to look at existing organizations that deal with hunger issues and how
we can be involved/support these organization. Additionally, we will
look at advocacy opportunities. We will also be discussing spring
semester leadership opportunities within UFH.Time: 6pm Location: Academic Village B110 Experiential Activity - Souper Bowls: Competing Against Hunger Date: November 18 Time: 5pm Location: Avogadro's Number - 605 S. Mason St. Cost: $10 Colorado State University students, faculty and artists will come together to enjoy an Empty Bowls dinner and silent auction at one of our favorite local restaurants and music venues, Avogadro’s Number (Avo’s). With a minimum donation of $10 per person, guests will have the opportunity to choose their own handmade ceramic bowl (the majority of which are made by CSU pottery students), eat a humble meal of soup and bread generously provided by Avo’s, and will eagerly listen to guest speakers discussing local hunger issues, involvement opportunities and means of action. The ceramic bowl is used as a vehicle for communicating the issues; thus an empty bowl represents the empty bowl found in a neighbor’s house down the street or one found halfway across the world. By keeping their ceramic bowl, it will serve as reminder to guests that many members of our local Fort Collins community go home to an empty cupboard or empty bowl. All proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of Larimer County. Tickets should be purchased ahead of time from either Avo’s, from Dr. Clayton Hurd in the TILT Office (clayton.hurd@colostate.edu), or from any Souper Bowls: Competing Against Hunger representative. Only a small number of tickets will be available for purchase at the door. If you are interested in attending and need to get further information to locate ticket sales or if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Stephens at 303.819.7210 or sarahmst@rams.colostate.edu.
