Solar photovoltaics (PVs) are arrays of cells containing a material that converts solar radiation into direct current electricity. Materials presently used for photovoltaics include amorphous silicon, polycrystalline silicon, mircocrystalline silicon, cadmium telluride, and copper indium selenide/sulfide. Due to growing demands for renewable energy sources, the manufacture of solar cells annd photovaoltaic arrys has advanded dramatically in recent years. At the ASES solar park we have a Solar PV display board that demonstrates the entire process from photons of the sun to electrons in our wall outlets. |
