It is hard to believe that the 2010 Delazure season has officially come to an end. The journey began nearly 7 months ago with Friday night dance classes which rolled into the first camp weekend with the designers. Before we knew it the team was off and running taking on the Rochester WGI Regional, numerous local shows, the South Brunswick WGI Regional, the big dance in Dayton at the WGI World Championships and then finishing up with the local TIA season this past weekend at the TIA All-Chapter Championships in Wildwood, NJ. Amoung the many accomplishments of the season, Delazure completed the TIA season with an undefeated record!
Accomplishments for the season include: - Rochester WGI Regional Champions
- South Brunswick WGI Regional Silver Medalists
- WGI World Championships Semi-Finalist - 17th Place (team record placement)
- TIA Chapter 3 Independent A Class Champions
- TIA All-Chapter Championships Independent A Class Gold Medalists and promoted to Open Class (TIA) for the 2011 Season
The staff would like to thank everyone for their unending support of the team throughout their amazing journey this season. It is will great pride that I say the team out-performed and achieved milestones beyond any of our expectations and the memories of this season and their accomplishments have set a new standard for years to come here at Delazure.
Thank you Delazure for all of your hard work and efforts this season! |

Despite Mother Nature's attempts to slow us down, Delazure triumphed as they made the trek to Rochester NY.
Friday morning the team loaded up and headed North. With thanks to
contacts up in Rochester, we secured rehearsal space for Friday night
at the Rochester Sports Garden. The facility was very friendly and
accommodating. After stretching out the kinks of being in a car for 7
hours, Delazure opened up the floor on the indoor soccer field and got
to work. After a few hours of great work we piled back into the cars
and headed to the hotel to get some rest.
Up again the next morning for a "Power-Hour" rehearsal at a local
middle school, Delazure spent the morning preparing for their prelims
performance. At 2:42pm the team took the floor and put out a good
run. The crowd was reserved, which always makes performing more
difficult, but Delazure held on for a solid run. By the time we had
cleared the floor, folded and rolled the equipment, the prelims scores
were posted. Phil & Rah followed the contest organizers as they
walked down the hall to post scores. With 7 teams in the class, only 4
would advance to finals. The first round of posted scores included the
first four performers. Delazure earned a 67.7, which automatically put
them in finals mathematically based on the other 3 scores posted. By
the conclusion of prelims, Delazure's number held them to a solid
second place to Express of Jamestown (71.1).
Once we knew we would be performing in finals, the team loaded up again
and returned to the Rochester Sports Garden for another "power-hour"
rehearsal. This gave us just enough time to touch on a few tricky
spots from the prelims performance. With confidence oozing from them,
Delazure returned to Gates Chili HS for their finals performance at
8pm. As they walked off the floor everyone knew it was a better run
than prelims. Feeling like they had earned a solid second place
finish, Delazure was now on to the the worst part of the evening
begins....waiting for retreat/awards. The wait was finally over as
they began to announce the results for Independent A Class. The
night's results prove that every run is important and you just never
know what is going to happen. The staff is very proud to announce that
not only did the score go up nearly 2 points to a 69.6, but Delazure
had managed to overtake Express of Jamestown and came out the 2010 WGI
Rochester Regional CHAMPIONS!
The team celebrated back at the hotel with pizza & a video session
to watch their finals performance. After a good night's sleep we piled
pack into the vans and headed home to Newark. Although it was a long
seven hours to drive up (and back) it was agreed all around that it was
a trip well worth making!
Next up, this Saturday (2/27/10) Delazure will be competing at the
Field Of View home show in Ridley, NJ. We would also like to send out
Congratulations to our friends at Field of View (from West Chester) for their victory in the Independent Open Class at the Rochester Regional! |

Due to the massive snow storm that started the month of February, the WGI Pittsburgh Regional was canceled. This weekend Delazure venturing north and headed to the WGI Rochester Regional. We have been lucky enough to secure rehearsal space in Rochester for both Friday night and Saturday morning. The team will be leaving Newark Friday @ 11:30am to make the 6 hour drive north. We will post updates and scores as best we can over the weekend.

It wouldn't be the Penncrest Show without snow! Although it didn't snow on show day, it certainly snowed plenty leading up to it. With back to back major snow storms, the east coast was basically shut down for the week of Feb. 8-12th. Unfortunately this meant many schools unable to rehearse and having to drop out of shows for the weekend. Delazure pulled it back together after being away for 2 full weeks without rehearsal, had a strong rehearsal Friday night and headed to Penncrest on Satuday. Due to Music Major auditions at the University on Saturday, we were unable to have a rehearsal prior to departure but the team took it all in stride. We arrived at Penncrest shortly after the start of the show and took advantage of the breaks in the show to get out on the gym floor and spin. Most of the changes and details from Friday night's rehearsal stuck and the team gave a great performance pulling in a 72.8 and another first place victory for the season. Great job coming back from the unscheduled "mid-winter break" (aka. Snowmageddon).

Last night Delazure competed in its first show of the season. It certainly wouldn't be complete without a little bit of adventure! Due to facility issues, the team was unable to rehearse on Saturday. Knowing that the day before, the team stayed late at rehearsal on Friday and powerhoused through the "to-do" list for the week. It was a great rehearsal and a lot of progress was made. Delazure showed its commitment to excellence yet again on Saturday when, after a team brunch, they got together and found a place on campus to get together and spin together for an hour (without the staff). Being able to just get their hands on their equipment in the afternoon really paid off on Saturday night. Other teams would think that obstacle was enough of a challenge for one weekend, let alone first show weekend, but nope - that's not how we do it at Delazure. :) Add to the mix a freak snowstorm. Yes we all saw the weather, but they said it was suppose to stay south. Well the snow must have heard about how great the show is and decided to come see it. The kids were smart, drove slow and arrived to Pennsauken High School safely (just about an hour later than we had originally scheduled for). They unloaded the truck, got dressed right away and went straight to the gym to catch some equipment time during intermission. Due to another team coming from Western PA being delayed on I-76 due to the snow, intermission was extended another 20 minutes which worked out nicely for Delazure. We ran a few chunks of the show and counted that as rehearsal for the day! After intermission the team headed back to the classroom for final hair & makeup touchups and then went straight into rotation. Confidence was in the air as the team took the floor for performance. The crowd agreed - it was a GREAT performance! The staff was thrilled and so very proud of the kids for an amazing first show and Delazure truly made a statement for how this season will go. The end result of all the hours of rehearsal that led up to tonight's debut, 1st place = 66.2! Again, what a great way to start the season! Congratulations Delazure!

It's hard to believe the 2010 season has officially begun.
Delazure began their pre-season training back in October. Each Friday night after UDMB rehearsal, the members of Delazure would meet for a 3 hour dance class. October came and went and before we knew it, it was November and the designers were in for their first visits. The end of 2009 brought about a beautiful beginning for the Delazure team. Before leaving for the semester break, all of the drill was completed for the show and 95% of the work was filled in! Over the break several members of the team traveled with the UDMB & UMMB to Ireland to participate in the Inaugural New Year's Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland! While that adventure was truly an amazing, once in a lifetime experience and we all had a fabulous time, immediately upon our return Delazure was back at work. Just 4 days after returning to the states, Delazure entered the final design camp of the season and within 48 hours had completed the show 100%!!! It is such an amazing feeling to have everything out there on the floor. The staff and members of Delazure are very excited to see this season finally begin.
With the show design complete and work filled in, we have begun our regular rehearsal weekend routine. On Saturday, January 16th we took a break from that routine to give a master class at Elkton HS for their guard members. We were happy to help out a local group as they are just getting started. It was great for the members of Delazure to get one-on-one time with the high school students and I was very proud of how they just opened up and took the high schoolers under their wings. We ended the clinic with a full run through for the members of the Elkton HS guard. Our first official public performance was a great success!! Everyone had a great time and I think everyone involved took something positive away from the entire experience.
Next week we will host our Friends & Family show. All are invited and welcome to join us at GYM 1 in the Carpenter Sports Building (Lil'Bob). The show begins at 3:30pm. Hope to see you there!
