The Multicultural Greek Council at the University of California, San Diego was founded in  by 5 Greek organizations that still remain a part of the council. Now, the council is composed of 15 multicultural Greek organizations. MGC is coordinated by the executive board composed of  12 positions. The purpose of the Multicultural Greek Council at the University of California, San Diego shall be to create and maintain high standards in the life of fraternities and sororities by addressing, coordinating and developing strategic action plans that unify organizations, promote higher education, provide community services, and enhance leadership. The Multicultural Greek Council  also serves as a liaison between the Associated Students,  and other administration thereby maintaining open communication and improving the campus climate.
