About Us

The Apollo Project is a student-led organization on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville devoted to learning through experience.  The Project has chosen to design and construct an Apollo flight simulator, much like the ones that NASA used to train the astronauts for the Apollo Program.  The design contains a mobile graphical interface as well as a physical simulator capsule complete with 14 control panels and three viewing windows with visual rendering.

We desire to construct more than just a simulator.  Through this project’s unique organizational structure we hope to build an interdisciplinary network across our campus uniting as many colleges and departments behind one goal as possible.  We want to build a community that crosses the borders between scientist, engineer, mathematician, and writer, building relationships and understandings that better equip our students for their future in America’s workforce. We hope to train students in teamwork, group dynamics, and “real-world” experience, giving our sponsors capable, employable candidates for their workforces.  Through cooperation we can build success.
