Hi All!
The UAB ANST Co-Representatives would like to announce our November meeting and event. Due to the busy schedule of members this month, the monthly meeting and event will be consolidated. The date is set for Wednesday, November 18th from 4:30 until 5:30pm in Campbell Hall room 216.
The first part of the meeting will cover relevant organizational issues. The second part of the meeting will be focused on this month's topic: "Neuropsychologists as Therapists" featuring guest speaker Laura Dreer, Ph.D. Dr. Dreer is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor of opthalmology who works with vision rehabilitation at Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Dreer wears several hats: she performs not only neuropsychological assessment and cognitive rehabilitation, but also psychotherapy including motivational interviewing and problem solving training.

Hi All!
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! This month UAB ANST is returning to its regular meeting/event schedule. We have scheduled the September monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 23th from 4:30 until 5:30pm. At the moment, this takes place in room 204 and in the event of any possible room changes all members will be notified. Mostly, we will be re-orienting ourselves to regular meetings, covering relevant issues, reminders about upcoming conferences, and welcoming our new neuropsychology students. We have now completed the UAB ANST training guidelines! Please be present to give your feedback. We're still thinking of material for our t-shirts so please bring along an idea.
Our monthly event is loosely scheduled for the weekend of October 2nd. We will be having a "Homecoming Dinner" at a local Birmingham eatery. All members are welcome to attend. Significant others are welcome as well. We will be deciding the specific date, time, and location during the Monthly Meeting so bring some ideas! Yum!

Hi All!
This month we are returning to our normal UAB ANST meeting/event schedule. We have scheduled the April monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 8th from 4:30 until 5:30pm. This takes place in room 204. We are still working on the training guidelines and hope to have some results to show members. Please be there to give your feedback. Also, please take a moment to think of material for our t-shirts and send it in so it can be voted on for the next meeting.
Our monthly event is tentatively scheduled on Wednesday, April 22nd. The Co-reps have been looking into a tour of the UAB Department of Neurology's Magnetoencephalogram (MEG) lab. This is an imaging technique that measures magnetic fields produced by the brain and is used in clinicial work (assisting surgeons in localizing a pathology), research (determining the functions of various parts of the brain), and has other uses such as neurofeedback. Hi All!
INS 2009 was a huge success! Thanks to all the students, faculty, and interns who attended and made UAB a strong presence at the February North American conference. Don Labbe, Cady Block, Jacquie Copeland, and Janice Marceaux all presented research and received positive feedback--Congratulations guys!!! In addition to work, there was of course some play involved. Photos are posted on the UAB ANST website at http://sites.google.com/site/uabanst/Home/photos. Feel free to check them out!
For March, we counted the applicant interviews as our monthly event. We feel that the interviews were a success and appreciation goes out to all who came out. Neuropsychology was strongly represented and feedback from applicants indicated that they were extremely impressed by our organization and initiative. Thanks to all who were able to host, chauffer applicants, or who attended the meet & greet and/or presented a poster.
Remember: we have an upcoming monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 25th from 4:30 until 5:30pm. Progress on the training guidelines will be reviewed, and administrative issues such as t-shirts and dues will be covered. For meeting dates and times, please see the UAB ANST website. A reminder e-mail will be sent before the meeting.

Hi All!
The January Monthly events were a huge success! Thanks to all for their help and attendance!
Because the International Neuropsychological Society is coming to Atlanta in February 2009, the UAB ANST schedule has been altered to accomodate the students who are either presenting or attending the conference. First things first: congratulations to Cady, Jacquie, Don, Janice, and Trista and good luck on presenting at INS! If you are thinking of going and would like more information, contact one of the Co-Representatives. There are a number of interesting seminars, symposiums, presentations, posters, and other events like 'Mentoring for Women in Neuropsychology" and grad student events. We will all be meeting up for dinner at some point in Atlanta so let us know if you would like to join in!
The Monthly Event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10th from 11:00 until 12:30 noon. This will be in Campbell Hall room 203. Several of us will be practicing our presentations for INS and please attend to give your thoughts and feedback to help us get in tip-top shape to do our best! The Monthly Meeting will be on Wednesday, February 25th from 4:30 to 5:30 in Campbell Hall room 204. We will be talking about membership issues like dues and t-shirts, plus focusing on continuing to create training guidelines. Please be there!

Hi all!
Jacquie and I are excited to announce the first meeting of UAB ANST! The first meeting will be:
Monday, November 17th
4:00 - 5:00 pm
Campbell Hall, Room 204
There will be PIZZA and SODA! Yum!
The first meeting will be pretty casual. Please come ready to tell us your ideas! Although to some extent meetings will be planned out,
Jacquie and I really want to structure this organization around student's needs and concerns. We are going to use the first meeting as a
sounding board to direct future meetings.
Graduate students, interns, and post-doctoral fellows are encouraged to attend. Undergraduates are also welcome: although meetings will
be more directed towards upper-level students, we still feel that this is valuable experience for undergraduates.
A hall board in Campbell Hall will be going up soon with brochures and flyers will be going around. Jacquie is emailing out flyers and brochures
as I type! Looking forward to seeing you there! Please email either of us if you have any questions or concerns.
