Brainy Quotes!

If the human brain were so simple that we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Emerson M. Pugh

The brain is a wonderful organ. It starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into the office.

Membership

Want to become a member of UAB ANST?

Here you will find information on membership, forms, and steps to take to get plugged into both UAB ANST and ANST at the national level!

To be a member of ANST and UAB ANST, there are only FIVE steps! They include:

Join APA ($52) and Division 40 ($5). ANST is run through APA and Division 40 and membership to at least these organizations are necessary. Although not required for membership in ANST, it is also helpful for you join the International Neuropsychological Society (INS) and/or the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) if you can. Fees are greatly reduced for those with student status and benefits include receiving scholarly journals, updates on professional issues, and networking opportunities.

Join ANST by signing up on the Listserv and introducing yourself to others. A listserv is an electronic mailing list that professionals often use to consult and share information with each other. On the UAB ANST website, there is a link to the ANST Listserv under "Important Links." Their website has information on how to join and introduce yourself to other ANST members around America. It is free of charge to join this listserv. So, join and e-mail away!

Join UAB ANST and fill out a membership form. The form can be found and downloaded on this page. Once completed, turn in the form either at a UAB ANST meeting or you may turn it in to either co-representative's mailbox in the Psychology Department office, located in Campbell Hall, room 415. Membership to UAB ANST is currently free of charge.

Attend UAB ANST meetings and get involved! This organization depends and grows on your initiative and involvement. The more engaged and active you are in UAB ANST, you'll gain more experience and knowledge, assist your fellow students, and help your program gain more national recognition. If the organization isn't doing something you like or are interested in, bring your idea to the meeting and we'll help you get something started! This organization is built around its members needs and ideas.

Bookmark the UAB ANST Website and check it frequently! New announcements will be periodically posted on the website, as well as rotations in the Student Spotlight, meeting notes and materials, and of course there is a current schedule of all campus neuropsychology-related actvities such as Case Conference and Neurology Grand Rounds. New meeting dates and times will also be posted. Please also check the ANST website periodically as well although updates here are less frequent.

Check, check, check, check, and check?
