Send text messages to your friends through your desktop!
Below is a program written by yours truly. If you are a meteor customer download the following links: dlls and meteor_0.1.2.exe, and extract them to the same directory on your computer (it doesn't matter where). Then run mymeteor.exe. Follow the instructions and you should be able to send text messages through MyMeteor's webtext service via this program (obviously only if you have an account with them).
You might have to configure proxy and port settings, however. On the log in screen click on the 'settings' button, and fill them in the dialogue box. Depending on when where you are using the program may need to authenticate itself so you might be required to fill in the info.
The address book functionality is not yet complete. At the moment it simply uses the addresses that are stored on the meteor server, and clicking on the "Manage address book" button yields nothing. Hopefully in the not-too-distant future the program will manage the entire address book -- adding, removing, editing etc. Keep an eye here (or my 'blag'), for updates.
Other functionality was available before Meteor changed their site layout. All this functionality will return in time, but for the moment I'm only introducing the most biggest and best first. What works at present is logging in, using the online address book, minimisation and operation from taskbar, and a remaining texts counter. If a text goes above the 160 character limit the program will automatically parse it into X text messages. Being a meteor customer this is my target audience, but I am working on an O2 program and will post it in time.
Functionality to come -- group message compatibility, address book management, making a better icon and others I've forgotten.
If you've any questions, suggestions, comments, bug reports etc email me at twomers at gmail dot com, where, obviously, at and dot are @ and . respectively.
Note: I take no responsibility for anything that may or may not happen as a result of using this software. I provide the program as-is with no guarantees and the user uses it at their own risk, but I do my best to ensure it is as functional and safe as possible.
