Songs, nursery rhymes, and fingerplays have been handed down from one generation to the next in cultures around the world. Adults providing for the nurturing and care of young children have found them helpful in calming children before bed, in occupying children when they need to wait, or in changing the mood after an unhappy occurrence in the young child’s day.

Research tells us that young children in language rich and musical environments are very successful in learning to read. We must pay attention to the research and incorporate phonemic awareness, music, and text rich environments regularly and often in the daily routines for young children.

Twinkletime songs and fingerplays are appropriate for children ages birth through six. Twinkletime songs and fingerplays are organized by thematic units into sets contain 10-12 songs or fingerplay cards and one listening CD.

Twinkletime is literacy in early childhood.
