A Tough Goodbye in a Matter-of-Fact World 

I said goodbye to my son Matt on Tuesday, then closed my office door and cried.

That was a luxury that Matt won't have. The 2001 Sidney High School graduate, the kid who played baseball for the Yellow Jackets, who won the Louis Armstrong jazz award, is now Spc. Matt Williams of the 988th Military Police Company.,,,

 
 
Candidates Should Be More Like Teen Soccer Players 
 
I admit I've avoided it for years, but now have had to confront it. And I am really getting a kick out of it: I've embraced the role of soccer mom.

(Well, actually, I embrace the soccer mom and count myself as a lucky affiliate.)

Family, friends and former associates - including members of The Lima News sports staff - are forgiven for asking, "What's in the water up there in the Chicago suburbs? Is this the same Williams who proclaimed ad nauseam, ‘Once you get past baseball, none of the other sports really matter.'?" ...
