Poekoelan Tjimindie Tulen
Poekoelan (Pu ku lan) is an Indonesian word, which means “series of blows with returning hands and
feet;” Tjimindie means “beautiful flowing waters;” Tulen means “original.” Together, this describes the movement of this complete martial art, which flows gracefully and is effective in both combat and healing.

Tulen Center Manhattan is one of the schools actively training the art founded by Mas Goeroe Agoeng Willy Wetzel. Under the guidance of Mas Goeroe Agoeng Barbara Niggel, Goeroe Lara Seeburg continues to share the tradition and practice of Tulen. Beginning training is focused on defenses against common attacks such as chokes and grabs, as well as defenses against weapons. New students also learn to throw and evade basic hand strikes and kicks.
More advanced training includes stances and footwork, forms, sparring, weapons, energy and meditation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silat
The fusion of styles that Mas Goeroe Agoeng Willy Wetzel incorporated into Tulen can be seen on the patch students of Tulen wear on their uniform. "My body is my weapon". The influences of other martial arts on the Tulen style include Judo (the beginning training), Kenpo and Kung Fu. Training offers enormous benefits in physical fitness, self-defense, confidence, flexibility, mental focus, and self-expression.
