In The AMBASSADOR, Rafael Alvarez, a young Spanish soldier marries and inherits a hacienda in Mexico. After encountering storms and pirates in route to their new country, he and his bride, Maria, arrive in Mexico where they survive an attack by bandits only to find rogue soldiers in possession of their property. After successfully evicting the squatters, Porfirio Diaz befriends Rafael and when Diaz becomes president, he appoints Rafael as Mexico’s ambassador to the United States. Between further attacks, fire and the loss of family members, Rafael is influential in obtaining financing for Diaz’s plans to modernize Mexico and he gains power and wealth.


The AMBASSADOR, a completed novel, is the first book in a series followed by THAT DAMNED IRISHMAN, then MERC, and The SACRED LANDS. Three more books are in outline form: SOLDADO, TEJANO, and WARRIORS of AZTLAND.
