Okay. Let's face it, times are definitely evolving. Change is all around us, from programs designed to eliminate the hassle of grading papers, to
websites created to reduce the use of actual textbooks.. The thought of that sweet, gratifying smell of books being substituted makes me wanna gouge my eyes out. Anyway,  The world is reaching it's technical peek, and it's up to us educators to continue teaching and developing lesson plans and canons  2 steps ahead of everything else. With all the advancements, it is existential for us to progressively and cohesively build the bridge  betwee n English and technologies, ensuring that we are doing (and trust me, we are) everything we can for our students.

So please, trust our teaching.

I devised this site as a tool for my colleagues, students and parents as a guide to understanding my personal and professional goals in becoming a secondary English teacher. There are so many ideas I have in regards to education: Teaching English goes beyond the collective imagery consumer's assume to be the "correct" way to teach. I consider students, parents and persons of more political perspective consumers because education is bought; we buy what we want and expect it to be the best, no matter what the cost. The truth is, there are so many ways to lead a classroom efficiently the possibilities are endless. This is why I love English. There are thousands of tools (FREE TOOLS) at our fingertips, each possessing canons supporting and integrating our philosophies in building confident writers and readers.

So please...trust our teaching.

My Philosophy

When I think about my philosophy for teaching, I often think about a quote from Linda Christensen, "My curriculum uses students' lives as critical texts we mine for stories, celebrate with poetry, and analyze through essays that affirm their right to a place in our society." Like Christensen, I also feel that in order to emotionally reach the students with curriculum, we have to ensure their inclusion. Like our lives, their lives can be full of surprise and compassion, this could ignite their drive to write and read of other author's whose life magically relates to their own. The difference between Christensen and I is noted: I haven't taught anyone. My actual experience in a classroom is in the negatives right now. I do know, however, that teaching is a process that allows us to grow, actively progress while making many mistakes during the journey. This is one of the very many things I love about English; its flexibility.
In my classroom, I want my students to find a piece in themselves. I understand that I will not be able to touch ALL of the lives in my classroom, I believe one is just as important. I want to devise a curriculum that supports the interest of my students while concurrently heightening their senses to the historical pieces as well.
As of now, I am a complete mess. There are so many things I feel I need to accomplish before I feel I can give something well thought out and complete. This is were I feel my philosophy cushions me so I won't fall too deep. My philosophy is to never give up;  never stop learning or continuing to grow. I want to continue to utilize the advantages of teaching English, there are hundreds of techniques and unit plans, I will never settle for "just enough." This is something I feel I owe to my classroom.
