Each year, the Troup Rotary Club honors, with a monetary award, educators from each campus of the Troup Independent School District for their excellence in the classroom.
In 2008, at the Troup Chamber of Commerce Banquet, the Rotary Club awarded $500 awards to JoAnn Herington from Troup Elementary, Jill Smith from the Middle School and Pam Starkey from the High School who received awards for their excellence in the classroom.
Also, in 2008, longtime Rotarian, R. J. Roddy and his wife Navoleine, were honored with the Troup ISD Lifetime Achievement award. Sadly, Mr. Roddy passed away in 2008.
At the February 5, 2009, Chamber of Commerce Banquet, the club again presented $500 awards to Suzanne Sansom, Troup Elementary’s Teacher of the Year, Linda Salgado, the Troup Middle School Teacher of the Year, and the Troup High School Teacher of the Year, Adam Thomas.
