| The troop's current list of Eagle Scouts: Eagle Scouts The Eagle rank is awarded by BSA National upon recommendation of the Heart of Virginia Council. This is not to be taken lightly. Each Eagle candidate must have the required merit badges and the correct number of elective badges. He, and no one else, must conceive, plan and execute his service project. This is a test of his leadership, not his work power. The Eagle candidate leads the project, he does not do it. The parents’ role should be that of a follower. Let your son take the initiative. The Eagle candidate may request the participation of other Scouts, parents and adult leaders in the service project. The Eagle candidate follows the national guidelines outlined in the Eagle packet with leaders’ guidance from the troop. The leaders meet with the Scout several times to reinforce his progress on the approved project. The troop Committee will meet with the Scout and help him review his plan for his Eagle project and will have a “dress rehearsal” for the “Be Prepared” Eagle candidate before he addresses the Council representatives who make the decision to recommend him for national approval. In Troop 555, each Eagle Scout has his own personal Court of Honor. The troop leaders will help him plan this after his review board with Council representatives and while the requirements for Eagle rank goes to Texas for national approval. We look forward to assisting all who aspire to this prestigious rank. |
