Merit Badge Process

The earning of Merit Badges is required for all Scouts whose goal is to achieve the ranks of Star, Life, and the highest rank of all, Eagle.
Our Troop 75 Scouts are encouraged to review the Badges carefully before deciding. The category of Badges are divided into two types;
Eagle Merit Badges and Elective Badges.

Find out what these Badges are (and the Electives, too!) by locating them in the key at the end of this page.

 After choosing a Badge, the next step for the Scout is to see the Adult Leader in charge of issuing Blue Cards, Mr. Wigginton, who will then issue the Scout a Blue Card specific to each Badge. The final step for the Scout is to ask the Scoutmaster to approve each Blue Card with his signature.

Troop 75 has assigned Merit Badge Counselors to assist the Scout throughout this process. These Adult Leaders are trained and knowledgeable in the particular area of interest, and will do their best to help every Scout accomplish their personal goal.

Each year, the Atlanta Council, Foothills District and Kennesaw State University sponsor a Merit Badge Workshop, to provide Scouts with an opportunity to earn their Badges in a central location. In addition, many local Troops organize their own workshops through their charter organizations, for the benefit of the entire scouting community. Please thank your fellow Scouts for their effort by taking advantage of these valuable opportunities!

Important Note! It is recommended that Scouts select Badges that are appropriate for both grade level and maturity. Some badges place an emphasis on classwork, whereas others are more focused on indoor and outdoor hands on activities. For this reason, a new Scout may wish to choose a Badge that requires the Scout to move, rather than sit at a desk.

So, Scouts! Choose the Merit Badges that interest you the most...then go for it! You will find that there is something for everyone. And remember! Persistence pays off, and you'll be glad you made the extra effort when you're awarded your Merit Badges at Troop 75's next Court of Honor.

Good luck!
