Congrats to Jacob S, Matt S, Adam G and Michael T, as well as Mr Lees for their selection as OA Ordeal candidates. This is quite an honor, and Troop 28 looks forward to them making their ordeals at the Fall Conclave in September. Very cool (and wet) ceremony performed by the Makajawan staff!

Congratulations to Scoutmaster Dan on successfully completing his OA Brotherhood which he began in 1981 with his Ordeal! Don't wait 28 years before you do the same! Great job by Michael G and Brandon for taking lead roles in the OA tap-out ceremonies, and Brotherhood ceremony, as well! We look forward to seeing the two of them in action this Friday, July 10th!

Troop 28 had many Scouts and adults complete their swimmers test. Everyone passed! A big thanks goes out to Maggie Geraghty for serving as our official Lifeguard, and taking a couple of hours from her schedule to do so. We had a great time playing water volleyball afterwards!

We had four Scouts complete the NYLT program!
A great job was done, once again, by our Troop 28 staffers at NYLT - Michael G and Brandon F. Matthew K, Thomas, Daniel S AND Casey were given very good reviews and I received nothing but good reports of their efforts. Job well done Scouts!. |

The Great White North Rally was a beauty, eh? Lots of thanks to all who supported the effort it mind, body, spirit and material!
We had lots of positive comments about the Klondike, eh? People had a beauty day, with lots of fun, decent temps, and interesting events. I cannot emphasize how much team effort it takes to put on something like this that gave around 300 people, counting all staffers, an event they will remember forever! Way to go, and continue to watch out for the Moose, EH!

Recently, I received a call from Nick Williams at the Heartland
District office. Apparently, we at Troop 28 have achieved the
(unofficial) designation as the top troop in the entire District! It is
based on recruitment, advancement, retaining existing Scouts, training,
and being outdoor-active. He was very kind and generous in his words,
calling us top-notch, among other things! Along the way, we have earned the Quality Unit Award!
So thanks to all of
you, and the willingness to do things the Boy Scout way, we have set
ourselves up as a fine example to what Scouting can be! Now we just
have to maintain our momentum, and be proud, but not complacent!
Well done Scouts and Scouters, I am proud of you and your efforts!

Thanks go out to Mr Coyle, and Casey for coordinating this effort! We also had Daniel S, Adam, Michael T, Michael G, Trey and James helping, along with Mr Geraghty, Mr Temple and probably others who I am missing (by accident.) Great job helping clean from a huge mess!
Thanks for showing your leadership and Scout Spirit for service to others!
