ABOUT TROOP 171-HISTORY

Troop 171 embraces three goals:
Developing Great Leaders – Learning – Having Fun.

Scouts learn the importance of community service, how to survive in the wilderness, first aid, environmental consciousness, and tons of other cool stuff. But while we like to do all this we also like to have FUN rock climbing, camping, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, and more.

Our troop is growing larger every year. We currently have more that 100 active boys. Troop 171 has earned Troop of the Year in the Gemstone district SIX of the last SEVEN years - 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

We meet on Monday nights from 7:00pm - 8:30pm in uniform at
Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church, except for the first Monday of each month when we hold our Patrol Leader's Council and often provide special classes for other scouts in the troop.

Troop 171 just celebrated its 50th Eagle Scout in 2008.
