The Triumviratus Logicam of The Science Academy of South Texas was created to promote an atmosphere for pupils to learn and interact productively, and for those interested in stimulating their minds. The Logic Club (common name) is open to any SciTech student interested in logic puzzles, lateral thinking, debating, et al. In the past, we have had lectures on famous logic puzzles and mathematical proofs, and debated about various forms of government. We regularly meet in Mr. Grimaldo's room on every Tuesday second half of lunch, except during quarter and semester exam weeks. Occasionally, we hold meetings in the Biblioteca las Americas's Lecture Hall, but such changes are announced in the morning or afternoon by the School office. We also send regular emails concerning various issues. To prevent the Logic club officers from being part of a popularity contest, and at the same time, preventing them from abolishing democratic principles, the government of the logic club is split into the Triumvirate and the Imperium. Three triumvirs constitute the triumvirate, and are chosen by previous triumvirs for succession. The Imperium is composed of two consuls, a scribe, an aedile, and a praetor, who are elected on the first Thursday of October. |
