Membership Information
The Music Teachers Association is organized into 3 levels:
Become a member online to all three levels by going to the MTNA website.
Membership forms may be obtained on line by going to the MTNA website.
- The Tri-City Chapter offers a reduction of local membership fees the first year to new first-time members of MTNA.
Retired Membership
Retired
Membership is open to those who have been active members for at least
20 continuous years, are age 65 or greater and are essentially retired
from teaching. A member must send written notice to the MTNA executive
director for this class of membership to be activated. Retired members
may vote, but cannot hold elective office at the division or national
levels or enter students in MTNA competitions. A retired member must
also be a member of a state affiliated association.
Retired membership in MTNA is $32.50.
Guidelines for Use of Elmer and Louise Foskett Moneys: Membership
1. A grant to pay professional-level dues for the first year of joining the WSMTA/MTNA Tri-City Chapter Association is available to first time members only. This grant is not available to a teacher who has previously belonged to any other chapter within MTNA or is re-joining our Tri-Cities Chapter. However, a college student who has belonged to an MTNA collegiate chapter will be the exception and thus still be eligible for these funds.
2. The professional dues will be paid only upon the approval from the president and the majority approval of the board. This vote may be recommended by the treasurer and taken by an e-mail vote or at the board meeting.
3. A check will be written by the acting treasurer to be included with the application that is mailed to National. If a first time member has all ready paid the yearly dues, a check may reimburse the teacher. This grant will be available up to three months upon joining.
- Please contact the president and treasurer for details.
