http://newdeal.feri.org/magpie/index.htm: This is the url for the website I found while doing research for my unit plan on Jim the Boy.  It is a website that contains selected writings from students of Clinton Dewitt High School.  The students and writings on the website are from the years 1929 - 1942. If the given url does not work, you can access the site by googling "The Magpie Sings the Depression".  Writings on this site focus around issues such as The Depression, Poverty, Alcoholism, and WWII.  In my unit plan, I have my students create a class web page containing writings that focus around issues that affect our society during "our time".  I will create the Class Home Page, and each student will create their own subpage.  Their subpage will display their own writing, plus anything that they feel represents our society - music, art, photographs, etc.  My unit plan also requires my students to use the art of Fanfiction to introduce a new character to the novel, and conduct a broad cast via Audacity.  Enjoy!
