The "Dawgs Feeding Dogs" campaign started during the 2006 football season in celebration of Uga's 50th anniversary as the University of Georgia's mascot. In 2006, UGA alumni and fans across the nation collected and donated over five tons of pet food to their local no-kill shelters. Every year this number has increased and this year is no exception. Last year, we donated 13,400 pounds of pet food and this year we hope to reach SEVEN TONS.
The UGA Alumni Association-Research Triangle Chapter participated in the "Dawgs Feeding Dawgs" campaign for the first time last year (2008). We collected & donated just over 100 pounds of pet food to the Wake County SPCA and this year we hope to double if not exceed that!! So.....please join us in the 4th annual "Dawgs Feeding Dawgs" campaign which will kick-off on September 5th, 2009 and end on November 21st, 2009. Please bring your pet food donation(s) to any of the game-day watching events held @ Sammy's Tap & Grill during the 2009 football season where a board member will be happy to accept your contribution. Once again, all items collected will be donated to the SPCA of Wake County the week of Thanksgiving. If you are unable to attend any of our game-day watching events but you would like to contribute to this community service project, please email us @ triangleuga@yahoo.com to make arrangements with us.
