Orange County TRIAD initiated the Teddy Bear Program in 2006 with the support of the Sheriff's Office and the Town of Orange and the Town of Gordonsville Police Departments. TRIAD is in proud partnership with the Sheriff's Office Victim Witness Program to offer this community resource.
Law enforcement personnel have available in their vehicles stuffed animals to be given out at a crime or accident scene. The stuffed animal gives the citizen a "warm and fuzzy" feeling toward law enforcement at this crucial time in their lives.
Carolyn Ladd, Director of the Victim/Witness Program, and Elaine Anderson are responsible for keeping a supply of stuffed animals available for law enforcement officers. The TRIAD seniors will be asking for donations of stuffed animals throughout the county.
