Scope: This committee is concerned with the performance of bridges during strong earthquake ground shaking and with the application of that knowledge to seismic design and retrofitting standards. This knowledge includes the overall performance of the complete bridge structural system that includes the superstructure, substructure and foundations. This committee is also concerned with experimental studies that are specifically related to the assessment of the seismic resistance and behavior of bridges. In addition, the committee is interested in the sharing of practices, which could help to enhance the safety and reliability of bridges from a national security standpoint.
