History of Transcriptions Transcriptions has its roots in an event called Gender Crash, which was headed by Gunner Scott, now the director of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition. Gender Crash was a spoken word and performance event for folks from the queer and trans communities, with a long and successful run, from 2000 to 2009. Recognizing the great void that the end of GenderCrash would leave, a new group of trans, queer, and allied folks got together to make sure that a space for queer creative expression would live on in Boston. Second Thursday nights at Spontaneous Celebrations, long-occupied by Gender Crash, would now become the home of Transcriptions! Transcriptions picked up where GenderCrash left off: the first Transcriptions was held in February of 2009. In two years, Transcriptions has enjoyed a wide variety of performers of all stripes, including our past features. We've donated the proceeds from our vegan bake sales to a number of local charities. We want to do more! The future of Transcriptions is bright, and we want you to be a part of it! We can't wait to see you at the next show! |
