WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE NEIGHBOURHOOD CONTACT GROUPS? The Neighbourhood Contact Groups work with the Parish Priest and Parish Team in co-ordinating pastoral care to the Catholics in each particular geographic area. Neighbourhood Church Communities..... ü Are united with each other through our parish structures they are not a replacement of traditional parishes. ü Are a fresh way of being 'church' in our local area they are not mere subdivisions of a parish. ü Are drawn together to be nourished by the Word and the Eucharist they are not a replacement of our Sunday worship. ü Are concerned for and accepting of all Catholics in their area regardless of whether they are involved in the parish or not they are not exclusive, judgmental or simply an attempt to get people back to Mass. In practice this means that members of the Neighbourhood Contact Groups are committed to: ü Participating in a meeting for personal faith formation and to reflect on and co-ordinate pastoral ministry to people in their area. (Frequency to be determined.) ü Helping to co-ordinate the distribution of a parish leaflet to all Catholic households in their area, 3 times a year. (Advent, Easter, and one other time) ü Become aware of who the Catholics are in their area, to offer friendship and support, particularly in times of need. ü Working with the appropriate parish groups in finding community sponsors for all those (infants, children and adults) who are preparing for Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist. ü Assisting the parish to keep up-to-date records of Catholic households in their area. ü Being involved in facilitating faith-sharing groups when and where needed. Do you think you would be able to help out from time to time? It will
not take up a lot of your time. 13-11-2011 ![]() The parish region has been divided into 11 areas, each one having one of the Apostles as its patron.
