Introduction As a golf coach, do you often wonder what your client is thinking about when struggling with a golf lesson? As a player, how often have you asked yourself the same question after playing a poor shot! Your conscious thought process in the seconds before, during and after execution often undermines your ability to perform both off and on the course. Would you like to be able to train a golfer’s conscious mind with the same discipline on the range as you train technique? This 2 day workshop reveals HOW. Attentional focus lies at the heart of consistent golf and an applied coaching program has been developed and published. This practical workshop will explain why, where, when and how to guide a golfer’s attentional focus whilst developing both technical skills in practice and throughout the pre-shot, transition and post-shot routines in practice and play. Understanding how your mind processes visual, external and internal auditory information and controlling that which you are attending to is critical to golfing success. The peak performance ‘zone’ can be consciously trained and accessed on demand, once you and your golfer understand how to use internal auditory and visual memory systems of the brain effectively. The practical workshops will demonstrate how traditional coaching methods can be enhanced and how to adapt the appropriate scientific principles of Motor Learning, Behavioral Psychology and Attentional Focus in to coaching and learning golf’s physical fundamentals. You will be able to apply these principles to your own game and also learn how to include them in your own coaching programs. Every professional coach and golfer will benefit significantly from an understanding of how to coach and train attentional focus skills. At the workshop completion, PGA coaches can be licensed to on-sell to clients the Target Oriented Golf program (training manual and DVD) to support and complement their current and new coaching methods. Course Objectives By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
