Freshman year is a hectic year in high school. It is your first year on campus with upperclassmen. It is the year that many freshmen try to find their niche in high school. Freshman year was probably the year I was most involved in school, trying out different clubs and events. I remember the week of homecoming, because it was one of the best times of high school. I spent countless hours after school working on the float and learning the dances. It is one of the few weeks out of the year that school spirit is so predominant and the classes fight against each other for some ‘healthy’ competition. It is also one of the few weeks that many students spend hours on campus after school working to help out their class. That week went by very quickly despite the long hours. I learned that I could accomplish much more in once day then I had before. I also learned and experienced school spirit. It is the school spirit that brings alumni back years after graduation to see the homecoming game. It is school spirit that brings about change and makes the most memorable high school memories. From freshman year on, I continued to help with homecoming week and attend many school functions, because the four years are gone before you know it. |
