Word of the Week:
November 7-11, 2011:
Unwieldy: handled with great difficulty; awkward
Example: The refridgerator was an unwieldy object to carry through the doors and into the house.
October 24-28, 2011
Discipline: Behavior and order maintained by training and control
Example: Being a student requires great discipline in completing assignments, staying organized, and staying focused during class.
September 12-16, 2011
Asinine: foolish or unintelligent; totally ridiculous
Example: The malefactor's plan was completely asinine; he should have realized that the house with the Doberman would be a silly house to break into.
August 22-26, 2011
Machinations: Crafty schemes; plots; intrigues.
Example: Iago's machinations for Othello include mental warfare and vicious rumors, which both cause Othello to become blinded by rage as he self-destructs.
August 8-12, 2011
Mediocre: Of only moderate or adequate quality; neither good nor bad.
Example: My friend showed me her assignment; however, it was mediocre and did not stand out from the rest. I told her that mediocrity is the easy way out and she should be more mindful of her efforts.

Tip of the Week:
November 7-11, 2011:
Due dates are assigned to things for a reason. Once you leave high school, whether it be for work or college, you will learn that being late is simply not an option. Ask your teacher or parents for more details.
October 24-28, 2011:
Did you hear about Blue Latte? Several classes offer free tutoring during this time, and P11 is open for fun hang-out time with staff members and other students. Grab a schedule from the front office!
September 12-16, 2011:
Ask questions about assignments before the day they are due. If you do this, your score is likely to be better.
August 22-26, 2011:
A lot of what we say can be hurtful to those around us, whether we mean to offend or not. This week, think before you speak. If what you say could be mistook, do not say it.
August 8-12, 2011
Use that fancy agenda you were given as a way to keep track of school rules and regulations, class schedules, assignments, and calendar. Did you know that this is also a hall pass? That means you cannot go to the restroom without it! |
