The Blog The CharitiesStop Press!!! Oh No... It isn't going to happen. I am not going to ride the 2010 Giro d'Italia. Not a decision I took lightly, but one I had to make. More details to come soon, but in the mean time I am going to seek consolation in beautiful Venice... I am going to ride the 2010 Giro d'Italia! It should be a
massive challenge, with actually more riding and more climbing than the
Tour de France, but hopefully even more fun as well. Also, as I said,
I got a bit of inspiration from Lance Armstrong while riding the tour.
It occurred to me that everyone else was out there riding their bikes
to have fun and make a living, while he was riding to make the world a
better place. Then it occurred to me that I could be doing that too.
So this will be a ride for charity. I am still finalising
arrangements, but I am looking at working with a number of
depression-help charities around the world. At the moment, the
Canadian Mental Health Organisation (in Canada, obviously) and
Depression Alliance (in the UK) are on board, and I am hoping to have a
few more settled very soon. Obviously what this means is that I am
hoping people will donate to those charities, and information about how
you can do that will be available over the next couple of months as the
website gets finalised before the ride starts. All the details will be
going onto the "Giro Blog" as they come through, so be sure to check it out! |
